I apologize to anyone that has come this far.  I tested FlexRAID, but did not post my results.  Unfortunately, it’s been so long ago that I also don’t remember too much.  What I can say is, the only real complaint I had with it was parity performance.  Mirroring worked well, and I don’t recall any problems with managing it (I may retest this in a VM over the holidays to post new information here), but parity still exhibited slow performance along the lines of other software RAID5 type solutions.
